Dance is such an incredible art form. It lets us express our emotions or tell a story without even having to utter a word. With so many different dance forms and important life lessons taught through the act of dance, it is so important for you to get your young one in dance classes as early as possible. It’s a sure thing that your tiny dancer will have the time of their lives! While fun is definitely the most important aspect that comes from class, there are a few basic rules that need to be followed as well. In this blog post, we’ll discuss a few of the most popular dance class rules, not only for the little ones but for you parents out there as well!

If you have any questions about our dance studio or are looking to enroll your child in one of our classes, then please don’t hesitate to give us a call today.

Don’t Be Late

Here at K2 Dance Studios, we know how busy your schedule can be. From your own work to-dos to the errands that you have to run throughout the day, to make sure that your child makes it to their extracurricular activities (like dance class!) We know that it can be pretty hectic, but we ask that you please do everything that you can to make sure that your kiddo is on time to the dance class. Our instructors put a lot of planning and work into their classes, and when one or more student comes in late, it can affect the whole lesson, especially if the instructor has to start over from the beginning. As you know, it can be pretty difficult to keep children’s attention, so we ask that you try and help out and get them to class with some time to spare.

Respect the Instructor

To carry over from the previous tip, there is more to respecting the dance instructor than just being on time. For you and your child! Make sure that you teach your child the importance of listening to their teachers and how it will help them to become the best little dancers that they can be! Also, remember that the instructor is teaching a whole class of children how to move and groove, and this isn’t always the easiest job in the world, so make sure that you are patient and understand that they have a lot on their plate.

Follow the Dress Code

While some dance styles take their dance attire more seriously than others (looking at you ballet), almost every form has its own dress code. This isn’t just for the visual appeal of the dance, but also in order to give the dancers the freest reign of their limbs so that they can perform at their best. We know that at their young age, it is not the most pressing matter, but we ask that you try to make sure that they are wearing the appropriate dancewear for their class. This will also teach them an important lesson about following and respecting the rules.

Teamwork

While it might be a little bit intimidating when they first join a dance class, we promise you that they are going to love their time here at our dance studio. They will begin to love and respect their instructors, and they will begin to make some of their best friends who are also in their class. Talk to your little one about the importance of teamwork, and if they see someone struggling, to lend them a helping hand and show them a trick or two.

Parents

Yes, parents, there are rules for you as well! Aside from making sure that your child is in class on time and in the appropriate attire, we ask that you also trust our instructors to do what they do best. We know how much you love your child and you wish that you could be with them every second of the day or show them what you know about dance, during class is not the right time. This will only be a distraction for the other students in class, and think about how chaotic it would be if every parent decided to stay around during class and put in their two cents! We promise that all of our dance teachers are very good at what they do and that you will be so proud to see your child show off the moves that they have learned.

Have Fun

The most important rule of them all that we ask of you and your child is, of course, to have fun! We love dancing so much and we know that your child will as well, and it doesn’t matter how good they might be if they are not having fun! Make sure that you are encouraging them around the house! It doesn’t matter if you are the worst dancer around, get them to laugh and show you what they’ve learned! It will be a great time for both of you.

While there may be a few other rules here and there, these are definitely the most important for your child to follow! They will pick everything up class after class and might be able to teach you a thing or two as well.
