Summer is one of the best times of year. School is out, the weather is exceptional, sleeping in becomes an option again, and the months ahead are full of fun and memories in the making.
But as every parent or guardian knows, doldrums can eventually creep their way in. To shift from having total structure and routine to having nothing at all can actually be rather difficult for children to adapt to. While we want them to have fun and get to experience the amazing freedom that summer can bring, too much of a good thing can be detrimental.
Summer can be beautiful, without being boring (or too busy). See some of the ways in which you can fight off summer boredom, and enroll today in classes at K2 Dance Studios in Corona!

Going from being constantly in school all year, to having nothing going on in the summer can actually be a bit overwhelming. Talk with your child (well before the enrollment deadlines take place, we might add) about some summer classes, sports, or activities they want to try. Do they love art class? See what day camps are offered by art studios in the area. Are they intrigued by lacrosse? Find a sports program for them to try. The options are practically limitless!
One thing that’s great about summer is getting to explore some of our creative interests. Whereas it might be hard to find time to do this during the busyness of the school year, summer opens up more doors. This can be a great time for your child to try out one of our many dance classes! Our dance studio in Corona offers classes for kids and teens of all ages to enjoy. Learn more about our dance classes, and view our schedule to find times that work for you and your family.
… but not too many.
There’s a fine line between having a schedule that’s too full and a schedule that’s too empty. You want your kid to get to explore and imagine and play outside. You want to relax with them and watch a movie in the middle of the day. If their schedules get too booked, they’ll have hardly a minute to develop their sense of creativity and fill their time in their own way. Try to keep at least several hours a day open for them, and remember that sometimes, slowing down is one of the best things you can do.
We’ll continue in a future blog with some additional things you can do to defeat summer boredom. Our dance studio in Corona has worked with children and adult dancers of all ages and abilities. We know how powerful and inspiring dance can be, and are driven to share these concepts with others, helping dancers grow in their practice and passion.
